- Our material is processed under high temperatures. Would your seals work for our application?
A: Our DURA-SHIELD HD (Heavy Duty) series seal can be installed in temperatures up to 400°F with standard materials. Altering the materials allows
the seal to be configured to 600°F. Please call us to discuss your specific application. Back to top
- When a DURA-SHIELD seal is worn, what are my options?
A: The wear surfaces of all of our standard or custom seals are replaceable. Rebuild kits are available for all seals. Kits for common shaft
sizes are available from inventory and can be shipped overnight. Each DURA-SHIELD seal has a serial number which allows us to access the details
of that specific seal. If you have any questions on whether a seal can be rebuilt, please call us with the serial number from the side of the
seal and we will research the best option for that seal. Back to top
- Our applications require frequent sanitization. Do you have a seal to address my need?
A: The DURA-SHIELD RX series seals have been specifically engineered to withstand the rigors of daily sanitation or sterilization. It is equipped
with a third drain port to allow for quick internal sanitization without removing the face of the seal. The RX series seal is ideal for food and
pharmaceutical applications. Back to top
- How quickly can I receive a seal?
A: We maintain an inventory of DURA-SHIELD SD (Standard Duty), LD (Light Duty) and HD (Heavy Duty) series seals in common shaft sizes.
If the shaft size is on our brochure then it is available from stock and can be shipped overnight. Custom seals generally can be shipped within
one to two weeks depending on materials and quantity. Back to top
- What type of support do you offer?
A: You can contact our engineering department during normal business hours with any questions about our DURA-SHIELD seals, how they would work
with your specific application or if you need assistance on the proper installation of a seal. If someone is not available at the time of your
call, you will get a call back within 4 hours. Back to top
- Will your seals work with corrosive materials?
A: The DURA-SHIELD HD (Heavy Duty) series seal utilizes a 316 Stainless Steel Housing to protect against corrosive materials. Hastelloy, Incinel
or Carpenter 20 are also available as housings for special applications. All internal components can be custom configured for almost any
corrosive environment. Custom seals can also be manufactured for applications involving Hydrochloric or Sulfuric acids. In these cases the
seals are composed almost entirely of Teflon which is inert to these corrosive substances. As always, please call us to discuss your specific
application so we can recommend the best configuration for you. Back to top
- What type of equipment use your seals?
A: Our DURA-SHIELD seal fit C.E.M.A. compliant Screw Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Ribbon Blenders, Mixers, Screw Feeders, Crushers, Dryers and
various equipment under pressure or vacuum. Back to top
