Q: Our material is processed under high temperatures. Would your seals work in our application?

A: HD (Heavy Duty) series seals are custom configurable to handle temperatures up to 600°F

Q: When a DURA-SHIELD seal is worn, what are my options?

A: We offer rebuild kits for all standard production seals except the LD series.  A complete kit with step by step directions can be supplied to refurbish your seal to a “like new” state of operation.  Every Durashield seal features a unique serial & batch number. We use this information for tracking each seals configuration. Please contact us with the serial number (located on the side of the seal or faceplate) so we can research the best option.  In some instances it may be required to replace the entire seal with a newer model.

Q: Our applications require frequent sanitization. Do you have a seal to address my need?

A: The DURA-SHIELD RX series seals have been specifically engineered to withstand the rigors of daily sanitation or sterilization. The seals are equipped with a (CIP) clean in place - drain port to allow for quick internal sanitization without removing the face of the seal.
The RX series is ideal for food and clinical applications.

Q: What is your standard order processing time?

A: Production time is typically 1-3 business days for standard type seals (excluding shipping time).
Lead times do vary based upon production queue and product demand. We strive to produce quality seals as fast as possible
Custom seals which utilize alternate materials may require additional production time. Please email sales@durashieldseals.com or call 1.877.243.7325 for more details

Q: What type of support do you offer?

A: Our engineering team is available for support during normal business hours.
We offer assistance for seal installation, setup & troubleshooting over the telephone, email.
To contact support please call 1.877.243.7325 or email: support@durashieldseals.com

Q: Will your seals work with corrosive materials?

A: HD Series seals are fully configurable to address corrosive processing applications. We offer a variety of configurable options including: 304/316 Stainless Steel Housings and internal wear & drive components that are selected by processing application requirements. Additionally Durashield offers designs to address Hydrochloric or Sulfuric acids applications.
In these cases the seals are composed almost entirely of Teflon which is inert to many corrosive substances.

Q: What types of equipment utilize Durashield seals?

A: Screw Conveyors, Bucket Elevators, Ribbon Blenders, Mixers, Screw Feeders, Crushers, Dryers and various equipment under pressure or vacuum. All Durashield seals are manufactured to meet or exceed C.E.M.A. dimensional standards.

Q: What is the maximum shaft speed for a DURA-SHIELD seal?

A: RPM is variable by shaft diameter with installation specific conditions and measured in FPM.

Q: How much longitudinal shaft growth is tolerated by DURA-SHIELD seals?

A: Please reference the chart below

SERIES OF SEAL
Shaft Growth
SD Series (Standard Duty)
± 0.0625"
LD Series (Light Duty)
± 0.0625"
HD Series (Heavy Duty)
± 0.0625"
RX Series
± 0.0625"
EA Series
± 0.0625"
SC-Drive/Pac Series
± 0.0625"
LGX Series
± 0.7500"
Bearing Seal
± 0.0625"

Q: How much orbital eccentricity is tolerated by DURA-SHIELD Seals?

A: All seals, with the exception of the SC-Drive/Pac Series, allow for .200” of orbital eccentricity but can easily be modified to allow .300”. The SC-Drive/Pac Series seal allows for .020” of orbital eccentricity.
